CHP Party Assembly Member Ali Haydar Fırat made a striking claim on journalist Nevşin Mengü's YouTube channel.

Fırat stated, "There is very intense back-door diplomacy regarding HEDEP fielding a candidate in Istanbul. Also in Antalya and Mersin... The terrible thing is this: they tell mayors elected by the democratic will of the people, 'I won't look at whether you are guilty or not; if it benefits the CHP, I will appoint a trustee or I won't release Demirtaş.' This is not politics, it is a disgrace."

Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM) Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan responded to the claim made by CHP PA Member Ali Haydar Fırat on her social media account.

Making a statement on her social media account, DEM Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan used the phrase, 'Making secret protocols is not our business.'

Doğan's post is as follows;

"For decades, we have been saying that the law cannot and should not be a stick for politics. We are fighting a struggle for freedom, equality, justice, and peace against this, at a heavy cost. My advice to you is to pay attention to your potential sources as a former journalist and current politician before making these speculative comments aimed at creating perception, which cannot even be considered claims. Otherwise, you might find yourself embarrassed, to put it mildly, for spreading false news! While I'm at it, let me remind you: 'making secret protocols' is not our business!"
