A notable development has occurred within the Republican People's Party (CHP). Following a court decision regarding the CHP's latest party congress, Ayvalık District Chair Hüseyin Şalmanlı has taken action to initiate disciplinary proceedings against former party leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

In the application filed through his lawyer, Muharrem Saygı, Chair Şalmanlı requested that steps be taken to refer Kılıçdaroğlu to the disciplinary board and for his permanent expulsion from the party. The petition stated that both the CHP Charter and the Disciplinary Regulations are binding for all members and party organs. It was also emphasized that no position can be above the party order.

Şalmanlı requested an investigation into practices that reduce the effectiveness of party organizations, statements made in public that negatively affect the party, and decisions that are inconsistent with party principles. The petition also included the assessment that, “The fundamental purpose of party law is to protect the institutional structure, not individuals.”

The petition in question has been forwarded to the Ayvalık District Election Board for evaluation.
