Demirtaş: I could be a candidate for Istanbul

Başak Demirtaş, the wife of imprisoned politician Selahattin Demirtaş, has stated that she could be the DEM Party's candidate for Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM).

As reported by İrfan Aktan of Artı Gerçek, Demirtaş noted that she has not yet received any offer for candidacy from the DEM Party.

"IF THE PEOPLE WANT IT AND OUR PARTY DEEMS IT APPROPRIATE, WE CAN CONSIDER IT"

Demirtaş stated, "We have not yet received a proposal from our party, the DEM Party, for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidacy, but if the people want it and our party deems it appropriate, and if we believe it will pave the way for democracy and social peace, we can consider it."

Demirtaş added, "In such a case, we would not enter the race to help someone win or lose, but to win in Istanbul, and we would be ambitious."
