Dervişoğlu’s harsh criticism of the commission report: 'This document is a record of complicity in betrayal'

İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu brought the latest report of the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission to the agenda during a press conference held at his party's headquarters. Dervişoğlu stated that the document in question was prepared with a mindset that targets the fundamental values of the Republic.

Beginning his speech by addressing the "Great Turkish Nation," Dervişoğlu argued that the 103-year-old Republic and the national unitary state structure are under threat. According to Dervişoğlu, with the commission's joint declaration, the "process of betrayal has moved to a new stage." Criticizing mainstream political parties on this point, Dervişoğlu said, "It is a text where those who call the Republic a '100-year-old regime of oppression' and those who call it a '100-year-old advertising break' have reached a consensus. Acting as a spokesperson and lightning rod for this has fallen to the 57-year-old MHP and the CHP, which claims to be the legal entity that founded the Republic. Legitimizing this organized betrayal and making society accept it will not exempt them from the national catastrophe likely to emerge at the end of the process."

CONCERNS RAISED OVER TURKEY’S UNITARY STRUCTURE

Dervişoğlu emphasized that various concepts mentioned in the report open the door to a dangerous policy of division. "The rhetoric in the report regarding 'Turks, Kurds, Arabs, and other brotherly peoples' describes our citizens as components of ethnic groups rather than uniting them under a common overarching identity, and it moves away from the understanding of a unitary state," said Dervişoğlu, noting that such an approach is incompatible with the founding principles of the state.

Criticizing phrases such as "The Kurd's honor and the Turk's pride must be protected," Dervişoğlu argued that defending the rights and dignity of any citizen based on their ethnic origin would pave the way for division. "The state's duty is to protect the honor and pride of every citizen. A mindset that distributes honor and pride according to ethnic categories does not give birth to a unitary state, but to a federation of identities," he said.

“THE REPORT IS A MANIFESTO OF INTELLECTUAL AND CONSCIENTIOUS MISERY”

Continuing his criticisms of the report during the press conference, Dervişoğlu clearly stated his approach to the issue, saying, "Of course, we can discuss every article of the report with legal language and artificial political courtesy. However, the report is a manifesto of intellectual and conscientious misery." Stating that regulations such as amnesty for the leader and members of the terrorist organization were also indirectly brought to the agenda among the commission's proposals, Dervişoğlu claimed that this approach is being carried out "with full awareness of the betrayal."

Dervişoğlu also expressed that he finds the tone used in the report and the targeted social transformation dangerous for Turkey's national integrity. "Rather than what is written in the text, the goal to be reached and what is intended to be done along this path are important. Because it is clear that Erdoğan has set up a mechanism to obtain legal, institutional, and social approval for the new power architecture he wants to establish, and he has molded 51 unlike-minded entities into the shape he desires," he said.

Dervişoğlu emphasized that it is impossible for the nature of the National War of Independence and the founding philosophy of the Republic of Turkey to be altered by hostility toward the Republic or ethnic separatism, stating, "There is no statute of limitations on betrayal."

"I INVITE OUR CITIZENS TO BE AWARE OF THIS GAME"

At the end of his speech, Dervişoğlu called on all segments of society to uphold the fundamental values of the Republic. Arguing that the ongoing debates are shaped by externally imposed models, Dervişoğlu stated that efforts to weaken the central administration within the context of Turkey's terrorism and geopolitical reality are dangerous: "These headings express the model that has been imposed on Turkey in international reports for years. Weaken the central state and institutionalize identity politics. That is the scenario. We will never allow this scenario to be implemented."

Reiterating his words, Dervişoğlu stated, "I invite everyone to come to their senses and uphold the values of the Republic."
