Dervişoğlu’s remarks likely to anger Kılıçdaroğlu: 'He can give himself any title he wants'

İYİ Party leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu made striking statements during a television program he attended as a guest.

Speaking on Sözcü TV, Dervişoğlu stated that the current governance model in Turkey has led to a serious systemic problem. Dervişoğlu described the "absolute nullity decision" that has recently dominated the agenda as a "major scandal."

Describing the absolute nullity decision as a "major scandal," Dervişoğlu said regarding Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's statements, "He is speaking like a prosecutor. He is validating the statements of informants."

"TURKEY IS BEING DRAGGED TOWARD ONE-MAN RULE"

In the program, Dervişoğlu expressed that systemic problems in Turkey are deepening, stating that the Presidential Government System is dragging President Erdoğan "further toward one-man rule with each passing day."

Criticizing the principles of judicial independence and the rule of law, Dervişoğlu said, "With a decision taken in a small-town court, a political party's extraordinary congress can be canceled; with a civil court decision, an appointment can be made in place of a century-old party's chairman, akin to a trustee. However, we can sit at the table and talk about a constitutional amendment that includes the goal of transitioning to a parliamentary democratic system."

"HE CAN GIVE HIMSELF ANY TITLE HE WANTS"

Stating that he does not consider Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu a political interlocutor, Dervişoğlu said, "He can give himself any title he wants."

"LIFTING IMMUNITIES IS THE ULTIMATE DICTATORSHIP"

Arguing that pressure on the opposition is increasing, Dervişoğlu criticized the lifting of immunities for the purpose of eliminating political rivals by relying on a parliamentary majority. Describing this approach as "the ultimate dictatorship," Dervişoğlu compared the practices to the September 12 era.

"Even on September 12, the authority that closed parties only imposed political bans on the upper echelon and did not touch the lower levels," said Dervişoğlu, adding that today's picture has been carried to a different point.

"HE IS ELIMINATING HIS RIVALS"

Stating that attempting to obstruct the right to engage in politics is a crime against the constitution that will not be subject to a statute of limitations, Dervişoğlu emphasized that what is happening is planned.

Dervişoğlu said, "Didn't they plan all these things that are happening? Aren't these the ones who said, 'The court decision has been written, we are waiting for approval for it to be published'? The President is eliminating his rivals. Is it possible to deny this? Can there be a country where trustees are appointed to chickens, chicks, and roosters? We live in such a country."
