DEVA Party Chair Babacan evaluates election results: 'A result that does not satisfy us'

DEVA Party Chair Ali Babacan evaluated the election results at a press conference he held.

Expressing his gratitude to the political parties that participated in the elections and to the citizens who reflected their will at the ballot box, Babacan stated that he takes pride in being a citizen of a country where people cast their votes in peace and do not give credit to conflict.

"WE APPEARED BEFORE OUR VOTERS WITH OUR OWN NAME"

Reminding that their party took its place on the ballot with its own name and logo for the first time in the local elections, Babacan said,

"In the May 14 elections, we said 'Turkey first.' We had waived our party's name for the sake of our democracy. This time, we appeared before our voters with our own name and logo. As a young political party, we are a party that fielded candidates everywhere in Turkey, and I am honored to have such companions on this journey."

Congratulating the mayors and provincial general assembly members who entered the elections from the DEVA Party and were successful, Babacan used the expressions, "The DEVA Party is now a political party that has deputies in Parliament and mayors and council members in local administrations."

Babacan stated that they would evaluate the election results in all their details without wasting time and would put their successes and mistakes on the table.

Emphasizing that there are many lessons to be learned from the election, Babacan noted the following:

"We have obtained a result that does not satisfy us on behalf of our party. We will conduct an accounting of this without any ifs or buts. We will take the necessary decisions and continue on our path. We will not be people who look at election results and feed on combative, populist, and momentary policies. We will never give up on the culture of compromise and working together, common sense, and justice. We will maintain our existence with our moral stance. We will not stray from the right path. Starting from tomorrow, we will begin preparing for the general elections."

Pointing out that the most pressing issue in the country is the earthquake, Babacan added that the central government and local administrations must work hand in hand to solve this problem.
