DEVA Party's Cenap Ekinci arrested

Prof. Dr. Cenap Ekinci, who was the DEVA Party's candidate for Mayor of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, has been arrested and sent to prison. 

Prof. Dr. Cenap Ekinci, a faculty member at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine, went to the Diyarbakır Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch yesterday to give a statement. Following his statement, he was arrested by the duty magistrate on charges of "making terrorist organization propaganda." 

His wife, Aysun Ekinci, stated to Amida Haber, “He went to give a statement and was arrested last night. We expect him to be released upon appeal.”

An investigation had also been launched against Cenap Ekinci for criticizing the removal of the “Pêşî Peya” (Pedestrians First) signs painted on the roads by the Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality.
