DEVA Party member Salih Efe has announced that he is a candidate for his party's leadership. During a press conference held at a hotel, Efe assessed that the DEVA Party, which was founded four years ago, has failed to provide hope to the public, its delegates, and its members.
WE HAVE BEGUN OUR WORK
Stating that some members, including himself, have criticisms regarding the party administration, Efe said, "They are objecting to the current situation and can never accept our party's gradual erosion. For this reason, we have begun our work. Before the general congress, I decided to form an opposition group within the party and become a candidate for chairman in order to ensure democracy and pluralism. We have full faith that with a new spirit, vision, story, and new faces, we will revitalize our party and once again earn the favor that our people showed us at the time of our founding."
Efe directed criticisms toward DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan, stating, "I am saying 'I am in' in this democratic race, which is my legal right in Turkish politics, both to object to Mr. Ali, who has not been able to manage the party as he declared to the public since its establishment, and to be a source of hope for both the DEVA Party and our people."
The DEVA Party charter includes the provision: "To be a candidate for the Chairmanship, the written proposal of at least fifteen percent of the total number of grand congress members is required."
