Devlet Bahçeli commissions a special tombstone for Ferdi Tayfur's grave

MHP Chief Advisor Eyyüp Yıldız announced on his social media account that MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had a special tombstone commissioned for the grave of artist Ferdi Tayfur, who passed away on January 2, 2025, at the Yeniköy Cemetery in Istanbul, and that the Ferdi Tayfur Art Center and Museum had been opened by the Adana Sarıçam Municipality.

MHP's Yıldız stated the following:

"Our master artist Ferdi Tayfur, who left deep marks on the hearts of the Turkish nation and served as a voice for the emotions of generations with his voice and works, was not just an artist; he secured a permanent place in the cultural and spiritual memory of our nation. His works have become a common language of emotion in both the joys and sorrows of our people.

The grave of the late Ferdi Tayfur was commissioned by our Chairman, Mr. Devlet Bahçeli. This tombstone is not merely marble; it is a national monument bearing the traces of Turkish-Islamic art and Islamic tradition. The crescent and star represent the independence of the Turkish nation and the symbol of Islam. The Ottoman tughra is a symbol of our deep-rooted state tradition. Verses, prayers, and calligraphy emphasize the eternity of Allah while reminding us of transience. Geometric motifs carry Seljuk-Ottoman art into the present day. This stone is a prayer for the soul of the deceased and a means of loyalty and remembrance for our nation.

Following the passing of Ferdi Tayfur, our Chairman, Mr. Devlet Bahçeli, was personally present from the funeral prayer to the burial process, and did not leave our artist alone on his final journey. This high level of loyalty is a strong indicator not only of a friendship but also of the importance given to the culture, art, and spiritual values of the Turkish nation.

Furthermore, under the leadership of our Chairman, the Ferdi Tayfur Art Center and Museum was opened by the Adana Sarıçam Municipality. While keeping the memory of our artist alive, this museum will be a permanent work that will carry the cultural memory of the Turkish nation into the future. Ferdi Tayfur left a deep mark on the hearts of our nation and became the common voice of the Turkish people with his works. The high level of loyalty shown after his passing—from the tombstone to the attendance at the funeral ceremony and the opening of the museum—has come to life through the personal ownership of our Chairman, Mr. Devlet Bahçeli."
