Aykut Kaya, who was elected as an Antalya MP from the İYİ Party in the May 14, 2023 General Elections, announced yesterday that he had parted ways with his party. Aykut Kaya announced his resignation from the party on his official social media account, stating, "I see with sadness that the conditions for serving our nation and our country within the İYİ Party have disappeared. For this reason, I have decided to resign from my İYİ Party membership."

Following Aykut Kaya's resignation, the question of which party he would join became a subject of curiosity.

It is stated that MP Kaya will attend the Republican People's Party (CHP) group meeting to be held under the roof of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) on Tuesday.

"THE OFFER IS FROM ÖZEL"

According to the local Antalya news site Akdeniz Gerçek, Aykut Kaya's advisor Çağrı Pehlivanlı responded to the claims that Kaya would join the CHP by saying "highly likely." Pehlivanlı said, "A meeting took place between CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and Aykut Kaya. The offer came from Chairman Özgür. He conveyed that he has been following our MP for a long time and appreciates his work. Along with this, he stated that he wants to work together."

With Kaya's resignation, the number of seats held by the İYİ Party in parliament has fallen from 44 to 36.
