Echoes of the separatist organization PKK's dissolution decision continue... An amnesty plan is ready in Turkey: Öcalan's message was not accepted!

İYİ Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez made notable assessments following the PKK's announcement to lay down arms. Arguing that Erdoğan's goal of "staying in power" is behind the process, Çömez stated, "There is an amnesty plan in Turkey."

The terrorist organization PKK made a remarkable statement today following its 12th Congress, held between May 5-7. In the written announcement, it was reported that the organization has ended its armed activities and dissolved itself. The statement has found wide repercussions in public opinion and politics. While the behind-the-scenes of the process and the next steps are being debated, İYİ Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez made statements that will be widely discussed.

THE İMRALI PROCESS AND ÖCALAN'S MESSAGES

Prior to the decision to lay down arms, the process was shaped by meetings between Abdullah Öcalan, who is imprisoned in İmralı, and the DEM Party delegation, contacts made with parties in Parliament, and letters sent by Öcalan. The first signal that the process had begun was given with MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's call for "Öcalan to speak in Parliament."

Çömez stated that there is pressure from the US in the background of the process and that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is using the process for his own political future instead of standing against this pressure.

"FIRST AND FOREMOST, THE TURKISH NATION MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE"

Arguing that the government has failed in the fight against terrorism, Turhan Çömez stated that terrorism was almost eradicated in 2002, when the AKP came to power, but has escalated again in the last 23 years. Recalling the citizens who lost their lives and the security personnel who were martyred in the TUSAŞ attack that occurred after Bahçeli's call, Çömez used the following expressions:

"The government must be held accountable to the Turkish nation. What did you do to end terrorism, what did you not do, and why did you not do it? If you did not take the necessary precautions, why didn't you? Why did you fail? These should be explained to the public in a transparent manner."

"ERDOĞAN'S GOAL IS TO BE A CANDIDATE AGAIN"

Çömez claimed that a propaganda process has been initiated to convince the public following the PKK's decision to lay down arms. Stating that this process is part of Erdoğan's plan to remain in power, Çömez said, "The US expectation is in this direction, and Erdoğan does not want to clash with America."

According to Çömez, Erdoğan's ultimate goal is to be a presidential candidate again. To achieve this goal, either a constitutional amendment must be made, or an early election must be called towards the end of 2027 to pave the way for Erdoğan's candidacy. However, in the current situation, although the number of deputies of the AKP-MHP-HÜDA PAR and the DEM Party, which "acts like a coalition partner," is sufficient for a constitutional amendment, there is a risk of a referendum.

"AN AMNESTY PLAN IS READY IN TURKEY"

Çömez stated that the organization's current terrorist cadre consists of approximately 3,500 people. He stated that some of these people are citizens of Syria, some of Iraq, and the rest are citizens of Turkey. Stating that it is planned for Syrian nationals to join the YPG and PYD, and for Iraqis to be settled within the Barzani forces, Çömez said, "No one wants those who are Turkish citizens. There is an amnesty plan in Turkey for these people. But these terrorist elements do not want to return to Turkey."

"WHERE THE WEAPONS WILL BE SURRENDERED IS A CRISIS ISSUE"

Çömez stated that to whom and where the weapons in the organization's possession will be surrendered is still a major crisis issue. Emphasizing that the PKK members are reluctant to surrender their weapons to Turkey, Çömez said, "Because when the weapons are examined, it will be revealed which actions they were used in."

"ÖCALAN'S VIDEO MESSAGE WAS NOT ACCEPTED"

Stating that Abdullah Öcalan sent a video message to the meeting held by the PKK on Mount Qandil on April 15, Çömez expressed that the message caused controversy within the organization. Stating that Öcalan's direct participation was requested, Çömez said that the message was found insufficient and it was underlined that decisions should be made by the senior cadre within the organization.

THE LAST MEETING WAS HELD ON MOUNT ASOS

Çömez announced that the last meeting of the process was held on Mount Asos, near the Sulaymaniyah region of Iraq. Stating that Asos is a continuation of Qandil, Çömez said that Öcalan participated in this meeting with a one-hour live video feed and that some heated arguments took place. Ultimately, he stated that Öcalan's instructions were accepted.
