Echoes of the speech crisis at the CHP statute congress: We do not want to experience a second Kılıçdaroğlu crisis

The Republican People's Party (CHP) has concluded its statute congress.

During the speech crisis that occurred on the second day of the congress, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who took the podium after CHP leader Özgür Özel and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, stated that he had been informed only 1 hour prior that he would be speaking, and expressed his grievance with the words, "You are adding fuel to the fire of discord ignited by asking 'Ekrem or Mansur?'"

According to a report by Gazete Duvar, although CHP Chairman Özgür Özel said, "The fault is mine," the candidacy discussions within the party have been reflected in the public eye.

While many CHP executives said, "It is a very early discussion, it was not good" regarding the situation that emerged, some executives evaluated it by saying, "We were going to experience this eventually; perhaps it is good that it became visible."

According to party members who argue that a candidacy discussion before entering the election process is not very appropriate, these events should be a lesson to everyone, all parties must get their act together, and the process of determining a candidate should be awaited calmly.

Party members argue that it would not be right to determine the candidate early, but that it should not be left too late as it was in the 2023 elections. Many party members say, "We should not be talking about the 'P' of the Presidency right now. It would not be right to determine a candidate early. But we also do not want to experience a second Kılıçdaroğlu crisis. We must manage the process correctly and time it correctly."
