Ekrem İmamoğlu reacts to footage following Gaziosmanpaşa election

The victory of AKP candidate Eray Karadeniz in the deputy mayoral election held at the Gaziosmanpaşa Municipal Council has drawn a reaction from IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

İmamoğlu described the events during the election process as "shameful" and criticized President Erdoğan and the AKP.

In a statement made via social media, İmamoğlu said, "My dear nation, never forget 'that expression on that face,'" and alleged that the removal of an elected official from office was carried out through a fraudulent process.

Stating that those celebrating this situation think they have achieved political success, İmamoğlu used the expression, "Those who vote for and work for the AK Party, and those who know what labor is, must also feel ashamed of this image."

Furthermore, stating that the current system damages democracy and the sense of justice, İmamoğlu expressed his reaction by saying, "Shame on you."

Addressing the people who founded and support the AKP, the people of Gaziosmanpaşa, Istanbulites, and all of Turkey, İmamoğlu emphasized that they would not accept this situation.

Never forget the mentality that, while shamelessly celebrating a mayoralty taken from an elected official through trickery and fraud, grins and thinks it has achieved political success.

Those who vote for and work for the AK Party, and those who know what labor is, must also feel ashamed of this image. No member of our dear and noble nation will ever accept this situation.

This image is the savage image of people who have become accustomed to winning unlawfully, without effort, by being subservient to others. The current system has not only rotted democracy but has also destroyed the sense of rights and what is lawful.
