LOCAL ELECTION STATEMENT
Making statements regarding the local elections, İmamoğlu said, “There will be a race between the Istanbul candidates of different political parties. This brings benefits. I value the existence of a ground where different ideas and different perspectives can compete. I hope we will experience an Istanbul election that we transform into a stronger festival of democracy with the existence of environments where those ideas can be better debated and measured, and where information can be obtained. But as I always say, of course, I respect the IMM candidate of every political party. Of course, each of them is a valuable personality. But I have stated many times that I will personally conduct a campaign focused on the needs of Istanbulites, that I have managed and spoken to people that way before, and that I do not conduct a campaign based too much on the candidates. I will make Istanbulites experience an even more successful one in this election. Because we have had a tremendous bridge of dialogue with Istanbulites for 5 years. So to speak, we will transform this into a very strong campaign, street by street, neighborhood by neighborhood, district by district. May the candidate of every party be beneficial.”
RESIGNATIONS IN THE IYI PARTY
Regarding the resignations in the IYI Party, İmamoğlu said, “It is absolutely not a field I can comment on. Even though we have an alliance, I will neither comment on nor interfere in the internal affairs of a political party,” and continued his words as follows;
“I only feel sadness if there is a disagreement there. That is the only feeling it evokes in me right now. I wish this did not happen, I wish they had a more integrated structure within themselves. Because the IYI Party is a political party that has achieved very special decisions and successes in terms of the democracy of the Republic of Turkey in recent years. I hope they go through the process in a healthy way within themselves. Other than that, the resignation of some friends in our assembly from their parties is their personal decision. I wish them the best. Of course, they have provided services in the IYI Party group until today. I am a mayor who is also satisfied with the services that the IYI Party group has provided to Istanbul. We managed a process in great solidarity and mutual consultation. With these feelings, let me greet them from here.”
