An audio recording shared by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu before he was detained has emerged.

Yesterday, it was announced by Istanbul University that İmamoğlu's university diploma had been revoked, and he was detained in the morning hours as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

In the audio message he recorded before the detention process, İmamoğlu made assessments regarding the developments.

HERE IS İMAMOĞLU'S MESSAGE

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu used the following expressions in the audio recording he shared:

"Hundreds of police officers have come to my door. I entrust myself to the nation. This immorality... they are coming to the house with a raid, the police are knocking on the door. I entrust myself not to 16 million, but to 86 million and to the resistance against the people who commit this oppression all over the world. I trust my nation. Our nation's will and resistance will certainly turn back this immorality, this tyrannical attitude and stance.

I convey my best feelings to the children, women, and all the people of this country. I am standing tall. Let no one be worried. I embrace you all, I love my nation very much. Let it not be forgotten that 'Sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation'. I want my entire nation to know that I will not back down, I will stand tall, and I will continue the struggle.

The President, who piled hundreds of police officers at Ekrem İmamoğlu's door, who is at the head of this process and the prosecutor of all these files, and the handful of people representing him here, whoever uses my poor police, my moral police as a tool for this, this nation will hold all those handful of people accountable before justice."
