Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu attended the apartment allocation lottery ceremony for the urban transformation project in Beşiktaş's Karanfilköy, for which the foundation was laid on April 29, 2023, held at the Mustafa Kemal Cultural Center.

"WE HAVE BEEN SUFFERING FROM THIS DAMNED TERROR SCOURGE FOR YEARS"

Speaking at the ceremony, İmamoğlu commemorated the soldiers who were martyred in Northern Iraq and offered his condolences to their families.

İmamoğlu stated, "We were shaken by the painful news that reached all of our homes yesterday. Losing the bright young children of this country, our soldiers, as martyrs naturally saddens us all deeply. I am saddened first and foremost as a father. If all of our children are living their lives today, if they are continuing their lives, it is thanks to the struggle of those martyrs. We have been suffering from this damned terror scourge for years, and grief descends upon our homes."

A JAB AT ERDOĞAN AND KURUM: "THIS NATION DOES NOT VOTE FOR A PROXY"

Giving messages regarding the local elections in his speech, İmamoğlu said, "The nation does not love those who betray Istanbul. We have sealed ourselves to Istanbul."

Stating that they will continue to serve Istanbul, İmamoğlu took a jab at AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the AKP's IMM candidate Murat Kurum, saying, "This nation needs common sense, a democratic mindset, and someone who takes instructions from 16 million people and fulfills their desires and requests, not someone who acts by getting permission from someone else. Vote for that person, my brother, it's that simple. There is no need for anything else. This nation does not vote for a proxy."
