Ekrem İmamoğlu: ‘We are determined to make every investment that will prevent waste’

Ekrem İmamoğlu spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony for projects that will increase water capacity in the Kartal, Maltepe, and Ümraniye districts.  At the ceremony, the current cost of the project was announced as 60,000 TL.

‘We consider all administrators as fellow travelers without making any discrimination in terms of service’

 Stating that as the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, they attach importance to working together without discrimination, İmamoğlu said, “As the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, we do not view only our own employees as a team.  At the same time, we consider the municipalities, administrators, mayors, and all teams of the 39 districts as fellow travelers. The foundation we are laying is a necessary task. The current cost of the project is 600,000 liras. It includes drinking water investments for our Kartal, Pendik, Maltepe, and Ümraniye districts. With this project, we will have one pumping station in Ümraniye, three drinking water reservoirs in Kartal, one drinking water reservoir in Pendik, and one drinking water reservoir in Maltepe.”  “I would like to state that we will carry out a number of rehabilitations at the foundation of all these constructions, along with solar power plants, with the principle of being an innovative city, and that these steps we are taking regarding our people's access to healthy water are very valuable,” he said.

‘We know that even a single drop of water is valuable’

 Emphasizing at the ceremony that protecting nature is a part of democracy, İmamoğlu stated that our goal  taking innovative steps to save electricity and producing extra energy through new energy production areas  is also about using water efficiently. We all know that even a single drop of water is valuable.  We are determined to make every investment that will prevent waste. Our institutions will fulfill all their responsibilities in this regard. Neither democracy, nor law, nor justice are separate from these things. Protecting nature is a part of democracy. Knowing that the step we have taken is an example for the entire region and even  the whole world, we are acting accordingly. May this opening be auspicious for us all,” he said.
