Erbakan's statement on corruption: AKP municipalities should also be investigated

Yeniden Refah Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan spoke at his party's Kastamonu Provincial Congress. Erbakan made the following assessments regarding the boycott process initiated by the CHP: 

''This is an issue where the main opposition and the ruling party are carbon copies of each other. The boycott issue. Both hope for salvation from boycotts when necessary. Recently, the government had called for a boycott. When the President lost hope in controlling prices, he found the solution in calling for a 'boycott of markets.' Now, a new boycott call has come from CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. We state that we do not find Erdoğan's past boycott calls or Özel's current ones to be correct. Boycotting companies that produce domestically, are domestically owned, and contribute to this country's economy serves no purpose other than harming ourselves and making our already bottomed-out economy even worse.''

"THE GOVERNMENT IS BARGAINING WITH THE PKK FOR THE SAKE OF POLITICAL INTERESTS"

Erbakan also said the following regarding the presidential elections and new constitution debates:

''In exchange for fulfilling the PKK's demands, the DEM Party will support the government in the constitutional amendment process and the subsequent Presidential election. This is the summary of the matter. The ruling alliance, which until yesterday declared anyone who even greeted the DEM Party—let alone Abdullah Öcalan—a 'terrorist,' and told the Table of Six that 'your 7th partner is hidden under the table, and that is the HDP,' is now revealed to be in tight negotiations with the PKK and Öcalan for the sake of political interests and their seats. And it is emerging that for the sake of the government's political interests, they will ignore the PYD-YPG threat and abandon military operations. We leave this situation, which the government has fallen into for the sake of winning elections and political interests, to the judgment of our noble nation.''

"INVESTIGATIONS SHOULD ALSO COVER AK PARTY MUNICIPALITIES"

Stating that the government is pursuing unlawful policies, Erbakan continued his words as follows:

''Unfortunately, Turkey has become a country of double standards. When it comes to opposition municipalities, one law is applied, and when it comes to ruling party municipalities, a different law is applied. Of course, whoever committed corruption or irregularities should be investigated, tried, and the necessary actions should be taken. However, if you take no action regarding criminal complaints made about irregularities from the AK Party era in municipalities that have passed into the hands of the opposition, and only go after opposition municipalities, this is injustice; it is a double standard. If there is to be an examination, an investigation, and if corruption is to be truly addressed, this should not only cover opposition municipalities but also AK Party municipalities. If an act is a crime, it is a crime for everyone; if it is not, it is not a crime for anyone. It cannot be a crime for Ali but not for Veli."
