The September council meetings of Etimesgut Municipality were held at the Municipal Council Building with the participation of Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu

During the meeting, Beşikçioğlu made significant statements in response to questions posed by AKP Group Deputy Chairman Uğur Çağlar regarding the appointment of Nursemin Bellek, the wife of Deputy Mayor İhsan Bahri Bellek, to the position of Private Secretary.

In response to the question regarding Nursemin Bellek's appointment, Erdal Beşikçioğlu said, "Ms. Nursemin is a graduate of the Girne American University Department of Political Science and Public Administration, holds an associate degree from Istanbul University Vocational School of Justice, has a master's degree in Public Law from Istanbul Kültür University, and has served as the Private Secretary to the rector of Istanbul Kültür University. She has a better resume than any of you."

Addressing criticisms regarding nepotistic appointments, Beşikçioğlu confirmed that his own nephew works as a consultant at the municipality but stated that this role is voluntary and that he does not receive any salary.

NEPOTISTIC APPOINTMENTS AND CRITICISMS OF THE PREVIOUS TERM

Criticizing appointments made based on familial relationships within the municipality, Beşikçioğlu stated, "I do not find it appropriate for deputy mayors and council members to have relatives working within the municipality. I want to pass a decision in the council to terminate the duties of individuals hired under these conditions."

Beşikçioğlu noted that during the term of the former Etimesgut Mayor Enver Demirel (MHP), relatives who were only high school graduates were appointed to directorate positions. Stating that such appointments must be identified, he added:

"Certain actions took place in previous terms. We saw that relatives who were high school graduates were brought into directorate positions. We have identified 61 people in total. And there are others we have not yet identified. Now they stand up and talk to me about merit. Where were you during the previous term? Did you only just come to your senses now?"

Beşikçioğlu stated that he wants to pass a unanimous decision in the council regarding merit and nepotistic appointments.
