Erdoğan announced after the cabinet meeting: "A one-time payment for our retirees..."

All eyes were on the cabinet meeting for a potential announcement regarding a raise for retirees. Following the meeting, AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan stated, "We have decided to make a one-time payment of 5,000 Turkish Liras to our retirees."

The Presidential Cabinet meeting at the Beştepe Complex has concluded.

The highlights from President Erdoğan's statements are as follows:

Since our last cabinet meeting, we have spent days filled with service to our country and our nation. At the September meeting of the National Security Council (MGK), we made important decisions based on the results in the field. When it comes to Turkey's security, we are constantly developing and implementing our strategy.

We shared the excitement of TEKNOFEST, which was held in İzmir on September 29 following Istanbul and Ankara, with our youth. The dynamism of our children at TEKNOFEST gives us strength and energy. We hope to host the 77th International Astronautical Congress in Antalya.

I wish success once again to all members of parliament who serve their country and nation as representatives of the national will in our Veteran Parliament in the new legislative year.

We are stepping closer to our dream of making the Century of Turkey the century of justice. In addition to addressing our people's longing for justice, we will continue to stand by our judiciary, which maintains a firm stance against threats to our country and nation, especially terrorist organizations.

We hope that the climate of tolerance and solidarity in Istanbul will serve as an example for the whole world, especially Jerusalem. I wish the new academic year to be beneficial for the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), our universities, our professors, and our students. During this process, we continued our struggle to grow our country and increase the welfare of our nation without interruption through numerous meetings and gatherings we held in Ankara and Istanbul.

All developments in the world and our region are, of course, under our close observation. Solving economic problems, rebuilding our cities destroyed by the earthquake, and fighting terrorism continue to be our top priorities.

"WE ARE NOT TAKING A STEP BACK"

We are carefully executing our programs in the field of economy within the determined schedule. In the first week of September, we presented the Medium-Term Program (OVP) to the appreciation of our nation and the business world. We have largely completed the preparations for our 12th Development Plan. We will share the details of the plan, which will constitute the roadmap for our goals and vision for the next 30 years, with the public. While executing our medium and long-term programs, we do not neglect the current problems and needs of the economy.

At a time when predictions about the future of the global economy are becoming increasingly pessimistic, Turkey has once again succeeded in moving itself onto a different path. We are following a path based on original and rational policies to solve the inflation, or rather, the cost of living problem we are experiencing.

We believe that we have reached the end of the pricing behaviors that have been almost hysterical for the last few years. We are not taking the slightest step back from our strategy of growing Turkey based on investment, employment, production, exports, and current account surplus. We are implementing new methods and policies required by the level we have reached.

The regular upward revision of growth forecasts for Turkey shows that we are heading in the right direction. The impact of the marketing, sales, and advertising restrictions we introduced for the automotive sector, which we extended until the beginning of the year, is being felt more and more. Speculative price increases in the automotive market have begun to disappear.

In this context, administrative fines were imposed on companies and individuals engaged in hoarding and unfair pricing practices. 139 companies found to be engaged in anti-competitive activities were subjected to fines totaling 2 billion 105 million liras. Now, we are implementing a similar practice in the real estate market.

We are imposing heavy sanctions on individuals and institutions that do not act fairly, honestly, carefully, and reasonably in the housing and rental sector. Companies found to have raised prices will pay the price for this with heavy fines. We are focusing with sensitivity on companies that engage in deceptive and misleading advertising, and businesses that have price differences between the label and the cash register. Fines of 215,000 liras were issued to those who resorted to such methods.

"WE ARE AWARE THAT WE HAVE DISRUPTED OUR EFFORTS"

We invite all our tradespeople and businesses, especially our chain markets, to support our fight against inflation and the high cost of living with the discounts they will implement. Just as we will not tolerate those who target our citizens' bread and livelihood, we will never forget the sacrifices made during this period. We have made many arrangements to date to fulfill our promise to our nation not to let our workers and retirees be crushed by inflation. We are aware that the fact that inflation remains high disrupts our efforts.

"I KNOW THE DIFFICULTIES"

I know the difficulties our retirees are facing. Following the evaluations we made at our cabinet meeting, we have taken a new decision that will provide relief to our retirees. We have decided to make a one-time payment of 5,000 Turkish Liras to our retirees.

We are excluding those who are retired but continue to work actively from this arrangement. These payments will be deposited into our retirees' accounts by the first half of November.

We will review the situation of our retirees again at the beginning of the year and will make every sacrifice necessary. I hope this decision will be beneficial. As Turkey grows, strengthens, and prospers, we will continue to implement our principle of sharing the resulting resources with every segment of our nation, from natural gas to pension salaries."
