Erdoğan calls for arms embargo on Israel

In his meeting with Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel is necessary to increase pressure.

Erdoğan received Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit at the Presidential Complex.

In a statement released on the Communications Directorate's social media account, it was announced that regional and global issues, as well as Israel's attacks on Palestinian and Lebanese territories, were discussed during the meeting.

It was stated that during the meeting, AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan emphasized that 'Israel is trying to spread the fire of conflict it ignited in the Middle East to the entire region, that Israel's goal is to leave Palestinians landless in their homeland, that Turkey continues its initiatives in all arenas to ensure that the crimes committed by Israel do not go unpunished, and that a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel is necessary to increase pressure.'

The statement additionally noted that during the meeting, President Erdoğan said that Turkey desires for the tensions in Syria, Libya, Somalia, and Ethiopia to end as soon as possible and for those regions to achieve peace, tranquility, and stability.
