Erdoğan had said 'It would be appropriate to change it': New 50+1 statement from Devlet Bahçeli!

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli made striking statements regarding the current agenda.

Speaking to TÜRKGÜN newspaper, Bahçeli addressed the 50+1 requirement, which AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said "It would be appropriate to change," stating: "There is no change. The 50+1 percent is the lock of the Presidential Government System. It is the basis of legitimacy for the elected president. The 50+1 percent is the strong expression and manifestation of the national will. We must keep our country away from such debates."

SWEDEN'S NATO MEMBERSHIP

Regarding Sweden's NATO membership, the MHP leader said, "The Holy Quran was burned in Sweden. Insults were directed at our religion. The most severe attacks were made against our spirituality. Of course, we look coldly upon Sweden's entry into NATO. However, for us, insulting our holy book is the same as oppressing Muslims."

INVESTIGATION INTO INFLUENCERS

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli also evaluated the money laundering operations launched against social media influencers. Bahçeli made the following statements:

"A Ponzi scheme has also emerged. A shameful picture! A fraudulent banker has ensnared greedy and interest-loving individuals under the guise of a fund. Lawlessness is rampant. Fraudsters who would make Sülün Osman look like an amateur are running wild. Wherever the legal process leads, whoever it reaches, as long as those responsible are held accountable.

The correction of this greed is essential. Business and transactions that are contrary to our national and spiritual upbringing, and that are immoral and illegal, must be rooted out along with their perpetrators.

Those who want to make the law fit themselves instead of obeying the law cannot be allowed. The appetite for more gain of this arrogant upper crust, which shakes and hurts our nation, is a moral disaster.

No one should be spared. No one has the right to overshadow our peace, acquire wealth, or live off the backs of others through illegal fund games.

We are watching the process. We hope that the profiteers and the robbers who facilitate this will be held accountable."

WHAT HAD ERDOĞAN SAID?

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had made the statement "It would be appropriate to change the 50+1 requirement" upon his return from his visit to Germany last November.

Erdoğan had said the following regarding the 50+1 requirement;

"I agree that the 50+1 requirement should be changed; it would be appropriate. If we switch to a system where the candidate who receives the majority is elected, the Presidential election would be quick, would not be a hassle, and would not lead to wrong paths. The current 50+1 obligation leads parties down the wrong paths. It is unclear whose hand is in whose pocket. There is the table of six, the table of sixteen... Who knows what will come out after this? But when it is said that 'the candidate who receives the most votes is elected' in terms of vote count, the election is completed quickly.

Bringing a new, civilian, inclusive constitution that is fully compatible with the requirements of the age to Turkey is one of our most important goals we desire to achieve. We started work on a new constitution in Parliament several times, but it was always left unfinished due to the obstruction of the opposition and their failure to keep their promises. We stand behind our promise; we will provide our nation with the civilian constitution it deserves."
