Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu attended the Joint Park Opening Ceremony for the Anatolian and European sides. İmamoğlu answered questions from journalists after the ceremony. He responded to the remarks made by AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who targeted him in his statements following yesterday's Cabinet Meeting.
President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in his statement following yesterday's Cabinet Meeting, targeted İmamoğlu, saying, "While the nation has so many troubles, expectations, and demands, I find these policies as worrying as they are thought-provoking. No one should take offense; the duty of municipalities is not to engage in activities that promote alcohol in public spaces or to charter private planes to take journalists to wine festivals, but rather to try to keep people away from the scourge of alcohol. We do not consider any of these to be innocent steps."
İmamoğlu replied to Erdoğan's words by saying, "He should focus on the economy."
