It has emerged that Yalvaç Mayor Mustafa Kodal, who joined the AKP by having his badge pinned by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the party's 24th anniversary, was detained in March 2025 on charges of bribery and fraud.

Kodal has now come to the agenda with his detention, following President Erdoğan's "lose weight" warning.

9 NAMES JOINED THE PARTY

While the AKP celebrated its 24th anniversary yesterday, it continued to add new names who resigned from the CHP and the IYI Party to its ranks. In addition to names such as Aydın Metropolitan Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu, Söke Mayor Mustafa İberya Arıkan, and Sultanhisar Mayor Osman Yıldırımkaya, Yalova Altınova Mayor Yasemin Fazlaca and independent mayors also joined the AKP.

HE HAD BEEN DETAINED

Within the scope of an investigation conducted by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in the Yalvaç district of Isparta, Yalvaç Mayor Mustafa Kodal was detained on March 27, 2025. Searches conducted at Kodal's home and workplace were carried out to collect evidence regarding allegations of corruption and bribery.

STATEMENT FROM THE YALVAÇ MAYOR

Mayor Mustafa Kodal made a statement regarding the matter, noting that his detention was a "simple and baseless complaint procedure." Kodal said, "We have completed our statement procedures, and I am attending an iftar dinner as part of my schedule. There is nothing to worry about or any trouble; the normal judicial procedure has been followed." He also stated that he would return to the district after the iftar dinner.

In a statement made by the Isparta Governorship, it was reported that the investigation is ongoing and that developments will be shared with the public. Upon the request of the Yalvaç Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, judicial search procedures were carried out in Mayor Kodal's office, official vehicle, personal residence, and personal vehicles.
