Erdoğan issues social media warning to party members

Speaking at the AK Party Extended Provincial Chairmen Meeting, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized that the desire to be visible on social media must be managed carefully. Erdoğan addressed current developments before the meeting where he was set to pin badges on mayors who left the CHP and are expected to join the AK Party.

During the meeting, Erdoğan conveyed his best wishes to the people of Venezuela following two major earthquakes that occurred in the country earlier in the morning, stating that Turkey stands with them and sending a message of solidarity.

Stating that they possess one of the most widespread political organizations in the world, Erdoğan drew attention to the importance of communication and a sense of responsibility within the party.

In a prominent part of his speech, Erdoğan noted that the search for engagement on social media can sometimes lead to wrong results, stating, "The desire to be visible, to be on the agenda, and to be discussed is overriding all kinds of sensitivities, including being human. Unfortunately, we are witnessing our own friends getting caught up in this counter-current, whether knowingly or unknowingly. We strongly remind you to be careful regarding such posts that harm our party."

Furthermore, Erdoğan stated that public offices are areas of service and should not be turned into a stage for showmanship, adding, "Places of service to the nation are not arenas for performance, but positions of responsibility."
