With less than 3 months remaining until the local elections, the mayoral candidates of political parties have begun to become clear.

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will announce the candidates for 28 cities, primarily Istanbul, tomorrow (January 7) at the Haliç Congress Center.

While there is curiosity about which names Erdoğan will announce, Sözcü columnist İsmail Saymaz announced in a post on his social media account that the AKP had made an offer to a former CHP member for the Muğla mayoral candidacy and that the offer had been accepted.

In his post, Saymaz stated, "Former CHP Istanbul Deputy and journalist Aydın Ayaydın will be the AK Party's candidate for Mayor of Muğla. I spoke with Ayaydın. He said that this offer came from Erdoğan 1.5 months ago. Ayaydın's daughter, Derya, is currently an AK Party Istanbul Deputy."
