President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements regarding the current state of the Turkish economy and future goals during a program where the 2024 export figures were announced. Stating that Turkey's growth strategy is yielding results, Erdoğan said that per capita income will exceed the 17 thousand dollar level in 2025.
TURKEY IS MOVING TOWARD ITS GOALS WITH CONFIDENT STEPS
Erdoğan stated that the economy grew by 2.1 percent in the third quarter of 2024 and that uninterrupted growth has been recorded for the last 17 quarters. Expressing that Turkey's annualized national income has reached 1 trillion 260 billion dollars, Erdoğan emphasized that this growth is also reflected in employment data.
'HISTORIC DECLINE IN UNEMPLOYMENT'
Erdoğan announced that unemployment rates have fallen to 8.8 percent, the lowest level in the last 23 years, and that the number of employed people has reached 32 million 970 thousand. Stating that the unemployment rate for men has dropped to a historic low of 6.6 percent, Erdoğan said that the increase in employment is an indicator of confidence in the economy.
'INFLATION IS ON A DOWNWARD TREND'
Evaluating the 2024 inflation data from TUIK, Erdoğan stated that annual inflation has fallen to 44.38 percent, dropping 31 points from its peak in May 2024. Predicting that inflation rates in 2025 will also align with the Medium-Term Program targets, Erdoğan said, "The accuracy of our economic policies has been confirmed by the confidence the markets have in us."
'FROM WHERE TO WHERE?'
Reminding that the per capita income was 13,243 dollars in 2023, Erdoğan said that this figure will exceed 15,000 dollars in 2024 and will surpass 17,000 dollars in 2025. Saying "From where to where?", Erdoğan reiterated his belief in Turkey's economic goals.
President Erdoğan concluded his remarks by saying, "The continuation of these promising developments will hopefully come. The Turkish economy will continue to grow with its strong potential."
