President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements to members of the press following the Cabinet Meeting held in Beştepe. Forest fires, the "Terror-Free Turkey" process, and developments in Gaza were discussed during the meeting.
Responding to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's remarks that "He should thank us for the Eurofighter," Erdoğan stated, "If it is true that the main opposition party leader is claiming to stand up for his country, this is a valuable step. We would not be uncomfortable with this, and we would not hesitate to congratulate them."
EMPHASIS ON THE TERROR-FREE TURKEY PROCESS
Erdoğan drew attention to the importance of the "Terror-Free Turkey" process, stating that this process should not be sacrificed for different agendas. "It is our nation's expectation that the main opposition takes its place on the right side of history. We reiterate our call for cooperation," he said.
FOREST FIRES AND THE DEFENSE INDUSTRY
Erdoğan offered his condolences to those who lost their lives in the fight against forest fires and explained the measures taken in combating them. "We are taking every kind of precaution to protect our forests. We have reduced the response time to fires from 45 minutes to 11 minutes," he said.
Stating that there have been significant developments in the defense industry, Erdoğan highlighted the intense interest in the IDEF 2025 fair. "231 delegations from 103 countries and international organizations participated, and 1,491 companies exhibited their products," he said.
Erdoğan also expressed the importance Turkey places on peace diplomacy, stating that they are making efforts to ensure peace in the Russia-Ukraine war. "We believe that the war must end now. The peace table will be set in Turkey," he said.
Finally, Erdoğan gave hopeful messages regarding Turkey's future, saying, "We continue our struggle with the prayers and support of our nation. I thank everyone who supports the construction of the Century of Turkey."
