President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the tragic fire that occurred at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center during his speech at the AKP Ankara Provincial Congress.

Stating that he is in deep sorrow due to the tragedy in which at least 66 people lost their lives, Erdoğan emphasized that those responsible for the incident will be held to account.

Erdoğan said the following in his speech:

“I would have liked to chat with you at length today, but our pain is great. Our heartache is very, very great. In this context, 6 of our public prosecutors and an expert committee have been assigned. Every necessary step will be taken, and is being taken, to shed light on all aspects of the incident and to hold those responsible accountable. I once again pray for God's mercy upon our brothers and sisters who lost their lives in this tragic event.”

The President also touched upon his sense of responsibility toward his nation in his speech, using the following expressions:

“If we do not sincerely conduct our own self-criticism and take measures according to the situation that arises, we would only be deceiving ourselves. The works and services we have brought to our country to date are not enough to pay this debt. We will sweat for this, we will go sleepless, we will grow tired under the burden placed upon our backs. But we will not make any member of our nation hang their head in shame, nor will we cause their hearts to constrict.”
