Erdoğan targets municipalities again

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in his latest statement, harshly criticized the spending policies of municipalities. Erdoğan stated, "There can be no justification for the amount allocated to advertising, concerts, entertainment, or travel being many times higher than critical items such as earthquakes or fire response."

Erdoğan claimed that the projects of opposition municipalities harm the forestry organization, asserting that this situation is being carried out as a cheap smear campaign. Furthermore, highlighting the support the government provides to forest villages, Erdoğan stated that 35 billion liras in loans and grants have been provided to 285 thousand 27 families and 232 cooperatives over the last 21 years. He added that 2.6 billion liras will be contributed to 12 thousand families this year.

Touching upon developments in firefighting, Erdoğan said that Turkey's aerial water-dropping capacity has been increased from 73 tons in 2002 to 438 tons today, and that they rank first in Europe and second in the world in the use of unmanned aerial vehicles.

Stating that 2025 will be hotter in light of meteorological data, Erdoğan emphasized three important points to be mindful of during the summer months. Expressing that lighting fires in high temperatures, low humidity, and windy weather poses a great danger, Erdoğan stated that such situations invite disaster and that this is not negligence, but a great betrayal.
