Erdoğan, who said 'This election is my last,' has said 'for the last time' before!
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's remarks regarding the March 31 elections, 'For me, this is a final; with the authority given by the law, this election is my last,' have dominated the agenda. However, it has emerged that this is not the first time Erdoğan has used the phrase 'for the last time.'

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the TÜGVA Youth Meeting at the Sinan Erdem Sports Hall.
Speaking there, Erdoğan stated that the March 31 local elections were the last for him.
"FOR ME, THIS IS A FINAL"
Erdoğan used the expressions, "For me, this is a final. With the authority given by the law, this election is my last, but the result that will emerge from this will be the transfer of a trust to the brothers and sisters who will come after me."
A NEW ELECTION MANEUVER?
Although these words of Erdoğan were interpreted by some accounts as 'he is leaving politics,' it was assessed that his main goal with this method was to encourage disgruntled AKP voters to go to the polls.
'FOR THE LAST TIME' STATEMENT IS NOT THE FIRST
While Erdoğan's 'this is my last election' remark continues to occupy the agenda, it has emerged that he has made similar statements before. Erdoğan had made 'for the last time' statements in 2009 and 2012, referring to parliamentary elections. In 2022, referring to the May 2023 elections, Erdoğan had said, "We are asking for votes from the nation for the last time on our own behalf in 2023."
