Erdoğan's election-timed natural gas message: How long will the support last?

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan noted that his party has launched its election campaign in Zonguldak.

Emphasizing full independence in energy, Erdoğan also made statements regarding natural gas support.

Erdoğan said, "We stated that the cost of 25 cubic meters of natural gas used in residences would be free for 11 months. We will continue this practice until April 2024."

Highlights from Erdoğan's statements are as follows:

"I was here 9 months ago, on April 20. We experienced the pride of officially commissioning the Black Sea natural gas. We are continuing our free natural gas support. We did not charge any fees for residences in the first month. We paid our citizens' natural gas bills. We stated that the cost of 25 m3 of natural gas used in residences would be free for 11 months. We will continue this practice until April 2024. We will have provided 84 billion in support to our citizens."

THE 'GOOD NEWS' ERA IN NATURAL GAS

Seismic exploration activities continue with our own ships. We are determined to make Zonguldak the center of natural gas after coal. Achieving full independence in energy is our most important goal. We are implementing moves that will guarantee Turkey's energy security.

Following the Black Sea natural gas, the oil we found in Gabar was one of these breakthroughs. The opposition found fault with this discovery as well. Instead of sharing in the nation's joy, they mocked it. As of today, the daily production of our oil well in Gabar, which the opposition turned their noses up at, has exceeded 35 thousand barrels. We aim to increase the daily production amount in Gabar to 100 thousand barrels by the end of 2024. We hope to give new good news in oil, natural gas, and mining in the coming period.
