In the TBMM General Assembly, today's session of the deliberations on the 2024 Central Government Budget Law Proposal was concluded with Article 7.
Delivering the final speech of today's session, TİP Chairman Erkan Baş stated the following:
"KNOW YOUR PLACE"
"We have reached the end of the budget; it is impossible for me to explain the budget in 5 minutes. I asked myself, 'What will be remembered' when we look back years from now. A budget where a member of parliament suffered a heart attack and lost his life while telling the truth, and according to the records, the AKP group said 'Good riddance'…
A budget where another member of parliament, our dear Can Atalay, is held captive and is not even here, and the government says 'good' to this as well… When looked back upon years later, only the arrogance and insolence of this government will be seen.
That is exactly why I came to this podium on behalf of the TİP to say, 'Know your place.' I am warning those who come up here and say, 'I will transfer the money taken from the sweat of millions of laborers to whichever boss I want, and give it to whichever religious sects I want': Know your place.
"YOU ARE A GOVERNMENT THAT LOVES THE RICH AND CRUSHES THE POOR"
Dear government deputies, you came to power by exploiting the pain of this people. If the saying 'a drowning man will clutch at a straw' was never said, it would have been said for you. The root cause of your arrogance is these election results.
Kenan Evren received 92 percent, not 52 like you. Today, you cannot find a single person who remembers his name with kindness. Hitler's map covered more of the world than yours, and you cannot find a single person who remembers his name. Even you, who grew up under the wing of Kenan Evren, even you were forced to supposedly oppose him.
Therefore, do not get arrogant; the facts do not change just because you received 52 percent. You are a government that loves the rich and crushes the poor.
You said, 'We will create a religious and vengeful generation,' and you made a drug trafficker the head of the Green Crescent. You said, 'Morality, virtue,' and you made someone who stooped low enough to sell tents while people were dying in an earthquake a president."
