Even AKP's Şamil Tayyar couldn't stand the civil servant and retiree salary 'raise': Here is how he warned the government
While the fact that the raise given to civil servants and retirees remained below inflation sparked public reaction, a notable statement came from former AKP MP Şamil Tayyar. Tayyar warned the government, saying, "Listen to the cry of society now."

Following the announcement of the 6-month inflation rate, the raise rates applied to civil servant and retiree salaries caused disappointment in the public. SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees received a 16.67 percent raise, while civil servant retirees received 15.57 percent. The fact that these rates remained quite low compared to the 24.73 percent CPI announced for the first half of the year increased the backlash.
While a significant portion of retiree salaries remained below the hunger threshold after the raise, public employees were also left to struggle with the cost of living.
NOT ONLY THE FORESTS, BUT OUR POCKETS ARE BURNING TOO
Former AKP MP Şamil Tayyar warned both his party group and the government with a message he posted on the social media platform X following the raises.
Tayyar expressed his reaction by saying, "Right now, not only the forests but the markets and the pockets and wallets of those with fixed and low incomes are burning." Pointing to the inadequacy of the raises, Tayyar emphasized that while a small segment living off interest income lives comfortably, minimum wage earners and retirees are bearing the burden of the system.
"THE MIDDLE CLASS HAS COLLAPSED, THE CITIZEN HAS LOST HOPE"
Tayyar used the following expressions in his message:
"Right now, not only the forests but the markets and the pockets and wallets of those with fixed and low incomes are burning.
Are there not segments that are unaffected by these fires, or even watching with pleasure? Of course there are.
They are living a comfortable life with interest income.
Minimum wage earners with zero, SSK/Bağ-Kur retirees with a 16.67 percent raise, and Emekli Sandığı retirees with a 15.57 percent raise are forced to carry the burden of the system.
Inflation is 35.05 percent, but the interest rate is 46 percent. And that is on paper. Both interest income and interest debt are over 55 percent.
I am not even counting the 43.23 percent rent increase rate.
2 years have passed since this program.
The middle class, which has shouldered almost the entire burden of the program, has practically collapsed.
I am addressing the friends who say, 'We will distribute [funds] 6 months before the election and win again':
-You are making a mistake.
-If the citizen loses hope in you, they will act with a sense of revenge, saying 'let them go, whoever comes, comes,' and will not care about who comes next.
-Crises produce their own solutions.
-Listen to the cry of society now."
