CHP Chairman Özgür Özel used harsh language toward the DEM Party during his speech at his party's 39th Ordinary Congress. While addressing the debates within the Process Commission in particular, Özel stated, "I invite everyone not to fall into Stockholm Syndrome, and not to fall in love with the executioner we barely escaped from yesterday."

The DEM Party has responded to these statements by the CHP leader.

RESPONSE FROM HATİMOĞULLARI: "MENTAL ECLIPSE"

DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları gave her response to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's statements from Çanakkale. Criticizing the "executioner" and "Stockholm Syndrome" expressions used by Özel, Hatimoğulları said:

"Using the metaphor of falling in love with one's executioner or Stockholm syndrome for us is, to put it mildly, a mental eclipse. As the DEM Party, we are the representatives of a revolutionary, socialist, and patriotic tradition that has resisted all pressures throughout history without tiring, without weariness, and without giving up. We know the executioner very well, too."
