Eyes on 11 metropolitan cities in CHP: İmamoğlu requested that name for İzmir!

At the 38th Ordinary Congress of the Republican People's Party (CHP), 1,367 congress delegates from 81 provinces elected the party's new chairman and new party administration.

In the chairmanship election that went to a second round, the candidate of the change movement, Özgür Özel, received 812 votes and was elected as the 8th Chairman of the CHP. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu received 536 votes.

ÖZEL: I AM DECLARING A MOBILIZATION

While a chairman lost an election for the first time in CHP history, Özgür Özel pointed to the local elections following his historic victory and said, 'I am declaring a mobilization.'

Following Özel's ascension to the chairmanship, eyes turned to the metropolitan mayors who openly supported Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu during the congress process.

EXCLUDING İMAMOĞLU, 10 NAMES SUPPORTED KILIÇDAROĞLU

While 10 metropolitan mayors, excluding Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, supported Kılıçdaroğlu, it has become a matter of curiosity whether these individuals will be renominated in the local elections on March 31, 2024.

As activity in the political backrooms continues to increase, an allegation regarding İzmir has become a hot topic.

'SELİN SAYEK BÖKE' ALLEGATION FOR İZMİR

According to an allegation by Yeni Asır, a newspaper known for its editorial policy favoring the ruling AKP, it is stated that Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who acts in coordination with Özel, is considering former İzmir MP Selin Sayek Böke—with whom they have acted together since the beginning of the change process that started after the election—as a candidate for the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality.
