At the 38th Ordinary Congress of the Republican People's Party (CHP), 1,367 congress delegates from 81 provinces elected the party's new chairman and new party administration.
In the chairmanship election that went to a second round, the candidate of the change movement, Özgür Özel, received 812 votes and was elected as the 8th Chairman of the CHP. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu received 536 votes.
