Journalist Altan Sancar, who announced in a statement on his social media account in May that he was 'taking an indefinite break from the journalism profession,' has now declared that he has joined politics.

In his post, Sancar used the following expressions:

"I am where I need to be. I had clearly explained to you that I had left journalism and was now 'taking a side.' Throughout my journalism career, I never lied to you. However, I could not support this struggle while remaining within the fair and ethical boundaries of the profession I loved. I could not stand here and walk around saying 'I am a journalist.' For this reason, I left my beloved profession and went where my heart told me to go. I have taken a side, and I will support the struggle I am on the side of. I am with you, Özgür Özel"

HE HAD ANNOUNCED HE WAS BIDDING FAREWELL TO THE PROFESSION

In a statement he made in May, Altan Sancar had shared with the public that he was 'taking an indefinite break from the journalism profession.'

In the statement he made at that time, he had said the following:

"I have taken an indefinite break from my active journalism profession, which I have been pursuing for many years. I do not know if there will be a return or if I will work at any institution again. However, I will continue to produce broadcasts and write during this process. Yet, I will no longer do these as a journalist. Because, out of respect for the rules of journalism, doing this under the title of 'journalist' would be disrespectful to all journalists. For this reason, I will continue my broadcasts and writings not as a journalist, but as a citizen named Altan Sancar, who has no title at the head of his name in the country."
