Yeniden Refah Party (YRP) Chairman Fatih Erbakan attended his party's 3rd Ordinary Provincial Congress held in Tekirdağ. The congress took place at the Yahya Kemal Beyatlı Cultural Center in the Süleymanpaşa district.

Stating that the YRP is Turkey's 3rd largest party, Erbakan said, "When we first founded our party, we made a call to our nation. We said; 'There is hope now, there is a solution now, there is Yeniden Refah now, there is goodness itself now,' and our nation heeded our call. How do we know they heeded it? In the 2 elections we entered, despite there being only a short period of 10 months between them, we increased our votes by over 100 percent. On March 31, we reached a vote rate of 7 percent and became Turkey's 3rd largest political party," he said.

"MEDIA IS CAUSING GREAT MORAL EROSION"

Touching upon the issues they would address if they came to power, Fatih Erbakan argued that daytime programs across the country are causing "moral erosion." Erbakan stated, "The media needs to be reformed. Today, the media is causing great moral erosion. Daytime programs, game shows, evening soap operas. Under a National View (Milli Görüş) government, media broadcasts will be made suitable for our family structure, our culture, and our values. Laws imported from the West in the field of family and social policies that make marriage difficult and divorce easy will be reformed. Law No. 6284 is one of these, and indefinite alimony is one of these. We will protect our family structure by reforming these. We will replace these laws imported from the West, which make marriage difficult and divorce easy, with domestic and national laws that are suitable for our values and culture," he expressed.

"WE WILL FIGHT AGAINST DRUG BARONS"

Expressing that they will fight against drugs in the harshest way possible, Fatih Erbakan said, "Conducting an effective fight against drugs, increasing the penalties for drug-related crimes. If necessary, we will ensure the introduction of the death penalty for those who engage in drug trafficking, and again, while fighting against drugs, instead of dealing with street dealers, couriers, and children as those today do, we will primarily fight against drug barons," he said.

Following the speech, a gift was presented to Chairman Fatih Erbakan by Provincial Chairman Tuncay Çakır. Tuncay Çakır was re-elected as provincial chairman at the congress, which was held with a single candidate.
