Recent judicial decisions and management changes within the CHP have led to turbulent times for the party. Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as a trustee to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency by a decision of the Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance last year, saw his tenure end following a ruling of 'absolute nullity'.
Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was reinstated as chairman by a decision of the Ankara 36th Regional Court of Justice, expressed his desire to take the CHP to a convention at the most appropriate time during a phone call with current leader Özgür Özel.
Gürsel Tekin, known for his closeness to Kılıçdaroğlu, made a notable statement regarding the convention process within the party. Speaking to Sözcü, Tekin stated, “There is no chaos. A new convention will be held in Istanbul,” while also noting that preparations for an extraordinary convention would begin shortly and that the process would not be prolonged.
Tekin further stated that the CHP's grand convention with elections will take place in seven months.
