İYI Party Chair Meral Akşener, regarding the resignation of Eskişehir MP Nebi Hatipoğlu from her party, said, "I wish Mr. Hatipoğlu success. It is not how I receive this, but how the people of Eskişehir receive it that is important. We will see that in time."
Stating that she views the resignation as a declaration of will and respects it, Akşener continued:
"I have never spoken about any of our colleagues who have resigned and left to date. Whether they are an MP or a member, I do not make statements about them, and I have not done so. But usually, there are great injustices. Because a moral problem is experienced afterward.
After a while, accusations of great injustice begin to be made. At that point, I have provided the necessary responses. Therefore, as of today, I wish Mr. Hatipoğlu success.
It is not how I receive this, but how the people of Eskişehir receive it that is important. We will see that in time."
Akşener expressed that since Hatipoğlu left "due to perceived necessity," she had no further words on the matter.
Reminding that Hatipoğlu had come in first in the primary election they held before the general elections, Akşener said, "He is a colleague who was ranked first by our members. Therefore, I have nothing to say. May it be for the best. The people in Eskişehir will evaluate it, positively or negatively. I have had a principle of not commenting on such matters to date, and I have never done so."
