First comment from AKP on PKK laying down arms

In the Imralı Process, which began with the call from MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli on October 22, 2024, the terrorist organization PKK has surrendered its weapons today. In a symbolically organized ceremony, PKK members threw their weapons into a large cauldron. AKP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik made a statement following the PKK's laying down of arms.

Reaching the goal of a 'terror-free Turkey' will ensure that our country is freed from the burden of terrorism and that our immediate region reaches the goal of a 'terror-free region'."

Çelik added, "The visit traffic between parties and the consultation process of the DEM Party are making a great contribution to the sensitivities shown for the process to reach its goals. With the activation of the will of the Grand National Assembly to provide a basis for the process, the contributions of all political parties in the Assembly will become concrete. Under the instructions of our President, state institutions continue to carry out comprehensive work in all areas, especially diplomacy, intelligence, and security, to reach the goal of a 'terror-free Turkey'."

Thanks to our martyrs, whom we always remember with mercy and gratitude, and our heroic veterans fulfilling the defense of the homeland with unique sacrifices, the principle of 'One homeland, one nation, one state, one flag' has been protected under all conditions.

At the stage reached, a critical threshold has been crossed to reach the goal of a 'terror-free Turkey.' From now on, the process of the dissolution of the PKK with all its branches and illegal structures, and the burning/surrender of weapons, must be completed in a short time. The state of vigilance against all kinds of provocations continues so that this process, which is being carried out as a state project with the will of our President, reaches its goals. The will that will disrupt the malignant political projects of those who use terrorism as a tool for 'proxy wars' and approach our region with imperialist aims is the will for a 'terror-free Turkey' and its being a source of inspiration for the 'terror-free region' understanding," he stated.
