Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer has been detained following searches conducted at his home and the municipality. The first reaction from the CHP came from Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın.

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın shared a post on social media following the detention decision for CHP Esenyurt Mayor Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özer.
Günaydın stated the following:
"Our Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was detained this morning and taken to the Police Department.
We know who is fighting terrorism and who is fighting for power.
Governments come and go; prosecutors and judges must remain bound only by the law for the manifestation of justice"
FIRST STATEMENT FROM GÜNAYDIN
Connecting to Sözcü TV, Günaydın stated the following:
"As of now, I also woke up to the phone call I received. When I called the mayor, he could not answer. We have sent our lawyer friends and deputies to the region. It is said that a search was conducted within the scope of a terror investigation. Ahmet Özer was taken to the Vatan Police Department. Our Provincial Chairman and our deputies are there.
We do not know the content of the file, but we have our convictions regarding how the judiciary has been instrumentalized in this country"
