First reaction to the IMM indictment from CHP's Gül Çiftçi

The corruption indictment prepared against 402 people, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, has been completed. In the indictment, the suspects, 105 of whom are in custody, face charges such as "establishing a criminal organization" and "taking bribes." For İmamoğlu, a prison sentence ranging from 828 to 2,352 years is being requested for 142 separate offenses.

Gül Çiftçi, the CHP Deputy Chairperson responsible for Election and Party Legal Affairs, stated in her remarks on Halk TV that the indictment was leaked to circles close to the government in advance and contains many contradictions. Çiftçi said, "The indictment does not present any tangible evidence. It is necessary to read the 4,000 pages line by line."

Çiftçi noted that the statements of some individuals mentioned in the indictment were not taken, and that this situation calls the seriousness of the indictment into question. For example, she said that Hüseyin Gün met with İmamoğlu only once, yet he is still portrayed as an organization manager. She also emphasized that while Ertan Yıldız became a confessor, Fatih Keleş's name appears frequently in the indictment because he did not become a confessor.

Çiftçi stated that initial examinations show the indictment lacks seriousness and that many names were included in the organizational chart without being questioned, noting that this poses a problem for the legal process.
