First statement from AKP following investigation into Özgür Özel! 'This language is not the language of politics'

In a statement regarding the speech delivered by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel at the Gaziosmanpaşa rally, AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik stated, "We strongly condemn the language Özel used toward our President." Çelik added, "There can be no such form of opposition." he expressed.

"We strongly condemn the language Özel used toward our President," said Çelik, who also reacted to Özel's remarks directed at Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek.

"CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has once again stepped outside the realm of legitimate politics with his latest statements. The language Özgür Özel used toward our President is devoid of political decorum and the most fundamental political values. We strongly condemn the language Özgür Özel used toward our President. We will continue to fight against the mentality behind this language, just as we have done until now. There is no state institution or social segment that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has not targeted with the language of threats. He targets every area of our state and social life with a language of threats and insults. These behaviors are recorded in our political life as illegitimate words and actions. The issue that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel should primarily address is that the many allegations of corruption and irregularities emerging in various areas regarding his party have been raised primarily by CHP politicians themselves.

Özgür Özel must first provide clear answers to the allegations of irregularities and corruption raised by CHP politicians themselves in many areas regarding the CHP. Instead of facing these allegations, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel is using a language of threats targeting judicial authorities. Özgür Özel's recent threatening remarks targeting the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor and members of the judiciary are in no way acceptable. This language is not the language of politics, and there can be no such form of opposition. We will not allow state institutions to be targeted in this way with a language of threats and insults. The CHP leadership must stop diverting the agenda. Their primary duty should be to answer the allegations of irregularities and corruption directed at the CHP leadership and various municipalities by CHP politicians."
