Actor and 22nd Term Member of Parliament Berhan Şimşek had announced that he would be a candidate at the CHP's extraordinary congress to be held tomorrow.
However, it was stated that Berhan Şimşek's candidacy was dropped on the grounds that he could not collect enough signatures.
FIRST STATEMENT FROM ŞİMŞEK
Following this development, Berhan Şimşek expressed his grievances in a post on his X account.
Here is Şimşek's post:
'At the 21st extraordinary congress of the Republican People's Party, the council did not accept our signatures and application because we were 5 minutes late. Although I spoke with Mr. Özgür Özel, Mr. Murat Emir, and Mr. Ali Mahir Başarır, they said no, the time has passed. However, in the last congress, the lists were able to be submitted 4 hours later. I leave this to the conscience of the public and the party public. Regards.'
Berhan Şimşek also announced that the reports claiming he could not find enough signatures do not reflect the truth. Şimşek stated, ''Some media outlets are saying that we could not find the signatures. Those who want to see them can call me on my phone; I will present the 97 signatures to them. Thank you, for the attention of the public''.
