First statement from DEM Party regarding operations targeting CHP
DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan reacted to the detention operations involving 47 people as part of 4 separate investigations targeting CHP-run municipalities.

DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan stated that they condemn the detention operations carried out against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and some district municipalities, as well as the mayors of Seyhan and Ceyhan in Adana. Bakırhan expressed that such interventions are unacceptable.
Emphasizing that one of the fundamental principles of democracy is respect for the will expressed by the people at the ballot box, Bakırhan said, "These types of operations carried out by the judiciary against elected mayors damage social peace." He further stated that the path to resolving political issues is through negotiation and dialogue, adding, "We will continue to stand against every intervention that excludes democratic politics."
It was reported that within the scope of the operation, detention warrants were issued for 47 people, including Büyükçekmece Mayor Hasan Akgün, Avcılar Mayor Utku Caner Çankaya, Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar, Seyhan Mayor Oya Tekin, and Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hakan Bahçetepe, and that 30 of them have been taken into custody.
