Former AKP deputy Resul Tosun made a striking claim regarding the local elections on a television program, stating that YRP's mayoral candidates would withdraw from the race before the election.
Tosun had announced this statement with the words, "it is not a prediction, but information."
FIRST STATEMENT FROM YRP
Responding to questions from Senem Tolunay Ilgaz on the program 'Aklın Yolu' on Sözcü TV, New Welfare Party Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral candidate Altınöz gave a notable response to the claims that 'YRP will withdraw its candidates'.
Denying the claims and stating that he condemns Tosun for making such a statement, Altınöz spoke as follows:
"Such a thing is not possible; I connected to the television program that took place last night. I discussed that issue with Mr. Gürkan Hacır. At the same time, I said, 'If it is not a prediction but information, tell me who the person providing this information is.' I am the Istanbul candidate for YRP, I am the one working in the field, and we held a candidate introduction program that day.
I find it very wrong for Mr. Resul Tosun to do such a thing; I could not associate it with him.
If he has served as a deputy, he became a deputy through the work of this party and these organizations.
When I asked Mr. Hacır about the source of this claim, it was said that he was commenting as a journalist.
But you are making an accusation here, and this is very wrong... We are working with an organization of 100 thousand people; with this statement, they are trying to undermine our organizations.
We have announced our candidates, and there is no such thing as a possibility of withdrawal."
