Hasan Kamil Velioğlu, the Trabzon Provincial Chair of the Future Party, who made a post claiming that MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, who is in a recovery period following surgery, had passed away, has been detained after being removed from his post.

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli underwent heart valve surgery in Gebze on February 4, 2025. Bahçeli, whose treatment was completed on February 14, was discharged and entered a recovery period in Ankara.
While various claims were being made regarding the MHP leader's health, Future Party Trabzon Provincial Chair Hasan Kamil Velioğlu made a post claiming that Bahçeli had passed away. Velioğlu's post drew widespread backlash.
As reported by Sözcü, the Trabzon Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took action following this post. Hasan Kâmil Velioğlu, who was detained, was released today under judicial control measures.
Ömer Ünal, 26th Term Konya Deputy and Deputy Chairman of the Future Party, also made a statement regarding the matter.
Ömer Ünal stated, "Our Trabzon Provincial Chair Hasan Kamil Velioğlu has been removed from his post due to sharing false information regarding the health status of MHP Chairman Mr. Devlet Bahçeli on his social media account."
