In the chairmanship election, where incumbent chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, CHP Group Chairman Özgür Özel, former PM member Örsan Kunter Öymen, and former MP İlhan Cihaner were set to compete, İlhan Cihaner announced his withdrawal.
"I HAVE NO SUPPORT FOR ANYONE"
Speaking to Sözcü TV, Cihaner said he would not support anyone at the convention. Cihaner stated, "The friends who chose us will make their own decisions."

Cihaner had previously made a statement on his social media account after withdrawing from the candidacy.
Cihaner's statement is as follows:
"To the public, the delegates of the 38th Convention, and the esteemed members of the CHP;
Our 38th Convention, where the party's past should have been accounted for, the path to the future and power discussed, and the political direction determined, has unfortunately been condemned to a deadlock where those who brought the party to this point have split in two, stifling a progressive transformation and reconstruction. An ugly environment has been created where municipal resources are pitted against each other instead of discussing political approaches and determining competent cadres. On the other hand, a perception of power has been created through intense media manipulation, turning the convention process into a 'non-political' psychological war where only two people compete. Signature announcements reminiscent of 'Fatherland Front' participations have been turned into pressure, preventing the democratic representation of other potential candidates. So much so that rumors of 'signature support being given to other candidates' have been spread, casting doubt on the support of the delegates who stood by us.
WE REFUSE TO BE A PART OF THIS ANTI-DEMOCRATIC, NON-POLITICAL, AND PERSONALIZED RACE!
We offer our respect and gratitude to all our comrades who gave us their signatures and support. Our path is long and arduous. We keep our hope alive that our Convention Delegates, most of whom come from great struggles, will choose the right path despite all these anti-democratic conditions.
