Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan travels to Brazil for G20 Summit

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting to be held in Brazil. Minister Fidan will also participate in the 25th MIKTA (Mexico, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Türkiye, Australia) Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

In a written statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated that Minister Fidan will attend the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting to be held in Rio de Janeiro on February 21-22 within the framework of the G20 Brazil Presidency. At the meeting, views will be exchanged on the role of the G20 in resolving international issues and on the reform of global governance.

The written statement, which noted that Minister Fidan will draw attention to the atrocities and humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza during the sessions he attends and in his bilateral meetings, included the following: "He will emphasize the need for reform in global governance institutions, primarily the UN Security Council, and will share our views on making these platforms more democratic and effective."

Furthermore, the statement also noted that Minister Fidan will participate in the 25th MIKTA (Mexico, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Türkiye, Australia) Foreign Ministers' Meeting to be held on the sidelines of the summit.
